Audrey Murrell

 

 

 

 Audrey J. Murrell conducts research, teaches, and works with organizations on strategies to enhance overall effectiveness by utilizing their most valuable assets--their human and social capital.  Her work has been published widely in management and psychology journals as well as book chapter and special issues. Popular media—including The Wall Street Journal, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Pittsburgh Business Times, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Black Enterprise, Jet Magazine, and Vida Executive (in Brazil)—has also highlighted Murrell's work.

 She is the author (along with Crosby and Ely) of the book titled Mentoring Dilemmas: Developmental Relationships within Multicultural Organizations and the author (with Forte-Trammell and Bing) of the recent book Intelligent Mentoring: How IBM Creates Value through People, Knowledge and Relationships.  Professor Murrell is an associate professor business administration and holds secondary appointments in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and Pitt’s Psychology Department. She was appointed as the Director for the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership within the Pitt Business School in 2007. Dr. Murrell received her BS from Howard University, magna cum laud in 1983 and a MS in 1985, and a PhD in 1987 from the University of Delaware. She serves as a consultant in the areas of mentoring, organizational effectiveness, teamwork, diversity, and leadership development.

 Gregory R. Spencer

Gregory R. Spencer is Chairman of Board of The Hill House Association and immediate past Chairman of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania.  He also serves as Chairman of the Minority and Women Labor Agency which provides training and job opportunities for minorities and women to become apprentices and contractors.  He is Chairman of the Iota Phi Foundation of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and leads Rho Boule of Sigma Pi Phi.  He serves on the executive committee of Robert Morris University and past Board Chair of NEED and continues to serve on the board.  He is also a board member of Chester Engineers, Inc., the largest African American owned engineering company in the world and Fifth Third Bank of Western Pennsylvania.   

Greg Spencer is a Life Member of the NAACP.  He is listed in Who’s Who in Black America and Who’s Who in Corporate America.  His honors include being recognized for his outstanding leadership by Ebony Magazine and Pittsburgh Business Times.  The Pittsburgh Courier selected him as one of the “Most Influential African Americans” and the following year, one of the “Men of Excellence.“  He has received several community leadership awards in the area of Business in addition to being honored for his work with at-risk young people.  

Lisa Thorpe-Vaughn 

 Lisa Thorpe-Vaughn is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Non-Profit Leadership Training Institute (NLTI), along with working as a Consultant, Trainer and Technical Assistant provider for several National agencies; namely, Public/Private Ventures, National Amachi Initiative, Dare Mighty Things, Corporation for National and Community Service, Mid-Atlantic Network of Youth and Families and MENTOR. 

In addition to Amachi Pittsburgh Lisa served as the Chief Program Officer and the Director of Training for the PLF.  The Chief Program Officer was responsible to the President for providing administrative oversight to all projects, maintaining strategic alliances with partner organizations and fund development.  Annually in her role as Director of Training, Lisa organized/presented a national training institute for the Leadership Foundations of America (LFA).  The intended outcome of this event was to provide quality training, promote national speakers; showcase national best practice models, and provide networking opportunities for established as well as up-and-coming leaders.
