Business & Economic Development Committee

 

Develop programs to assist the Pittsburgh African American community with local business education and training
Provide opportunities for the Chapter to assist businesses to build capacity
Support local businesses and organizations in developing and executing economic (re) investment strategies
Enlarge innovative ways to link local entrepreneurs with Chapter corporate partners
Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with local new & existing minority businesses and governmental agencies which encourage and facilitate small business development
Discover feasible entrepreneurial opportunities for the Chapter to partner with
    Establish the Pittsburgh Chapter as the "go to" professional organization to assist local African American businesses

Membership Committee

 

  To maintain and increase chapter membership
   To promote the membership of the National Black MBA Association, Inc
   To develop strategies to recruit new members and to meet established goals
   To provide a budget for membership activities and year-end recommendations

Fundraising Committee

 

   To provide a means for raising the funds needed to meet financial goals established by the chapter
  To organize and execute a minimum of two fundraisers each year
  To cultivate, maintain and increase corporate sponsorship
  To develop and document guidelines, procedures and policies for fundraising
  To provide an annual budget for fundraising activities
  To provide a year-end report and recommendations for the upcoming year
   To provide a report at each meeting

Community Relations Committee

 

   To establish and maintain a presence in and a contribution to the African American, Academic and Corporate communities.  This will be done by developing and enhancing programs to educate and prepare our youth for successful careers and in business.
  To develop strategies and plans which focus on outreach activities to the community
  To develop and document policy and procedures for establishing relationships with locally based corporations
  To identify opportunities for assisting the community with its unmet needs
  To develop an advisory board youth in the community interested in business and entrepreneurship
  To identify ways in which the organization may be of assistance to current programs designed for youth interested in business
   To work closely with organizations such as INROADS/Columbus, Junior Achievement, and Upward Bound to identify ways in which the chapter may be of service

Social Committee

 

  To provide a means for members to socialize and network within the organization and community
   To work closely with the membership committee to determine the types of social activities desired by the members
  To provide an annual budget for social activities
  To plan and organize social events
  To establish and maintain relationships with other black professional organizations in the community
  To secure speakers for meetings and workshops
  To consult and advise other committees on forecasting their events and the limitations of the calendar
   To develop and submit the schedule of events one to two years in advance

Publicity Committee

 

   To handle any public relations issues as they relate to special events, fundraisers and programs provided to the public as well as those events aimed at the mission of the local chapter
  To develop strategies to successfully market and advertise events and programs
  To establish policies and procedures to disseminate information to the public and the press in an effective and timely manner
  To be informed of standing of standing committees project timelines to ensure the appropriate level of marketing and advertising of an event, program or workshop
  To cultivate and maintain public relations with our established corporate base and the media
  To provide information for all press releases
   To provide a budget for publicity activities and make year-end recommendations

Public Relations Committee

 

  Focus on improving and enhancing the Pittsburgh Chapter's visibility 
  Improve the visibility of the Chapter through press releases of every major event/program to local radio & television stations and newspapers
  Supply media coverage at every major Chapter event
  Promotes events and programs of the Chapter
  Guarantee a positive, professional image is presented at all events

Marketing & Communications Committee

  Consistently and continually promote "the brand" of the NBMBAA throughout all distribution channels
Charged with keeping Chapter members, partners and the Pittsburgh community informed of events & programs
  Develop, publish and circulate quarterly newsletters in an electronic and/or paper format
Provides timely, effective communications to members
  Assist all Chapter committees with event implantation to improve our level of service and quality in delivering programs
  Works in close conjunction with the Public Relations Committee
  Maintains materials for Membership Committee to provide to new members

Leaders of Tomorrow Committee

 

Provide mentoring and group mentoring activities in order to become a positive influence for high school students
Provide workshops, seminars and one on one mentoring 
Foster proper work etiquette, ethics and other skills
Provide youth with skills needed to successfully seek job opportunities

Scholarship Committee

Assists in raising funds for local scholarships
Sets the criteria for awarding the scholarships
Distributes monies to chosen awardees

Corporate Relations Committee

 

Retain existing corporate partners
Identify and recruit new corporate partners
Develop ongoing programs and opportunities for corporate involvement and Chapter support
